John & Deb have a combined total of 30 years of experience in training. Debbie is a AKC Canine Good Citizen Evaluator. We believe that training should start at a early age of 8 weeks or so.
Every responsible dog owner should train his or her dog. This is very important so the dog owners can maintain good relationships with their pets. It is quite sad to see some dogs given up by their owners just because they have trouble with some dog behavior problems. With a little time and patience most problems can be overcome. Why Train Dogs
Dog training is beneficial in so many ways not just to the owners but also to other people. By training them, owners get to raise a canine citizen that is well-respected and loved by other people. Dog training is important most especially if you want your dogs to be more outgoing and be trusted and valued by people in your community. You get to build a good and strong owner-dog relationship that is based on trust and cooperation.

- You get to raise a well-mannered family member that knows how to follow house rules and commands.

Types of Dog Training
It is crucial to train your dogs for obvious reasons. 1. To make them well behaved and pleasant around people. 2. To help them get rid of unnecessary behaviors, which include biting and excessive or unwarranted barking. There are many different dog training methods and each of them depends on the owner’s objective.

There are a lot more types of training methods for dogs, from military dog training and personal protection dog training to training dogs to hunt and work with livestock. However, the dog obedience training, being the basic and fundamental type of dog training, should be given more focus.
Basic Dog Obedience Training
It is important that every dog owner knows how to make their dogs obedient, not just inside their homes, but also when they’re outside strolling at the park or in the mall. The basic dog obedience training includes training dogs on how to do the following:
- Heel
- Sit
- Stay
- Down
- Come or recall
Some other obedience training commands that you can do include teaching them how to stand, ‘leave it’ commands, and ‘go to your ‘spot’ or ‘place’ commands.
Dog Training Methods to Eliminate Dog Behavior Problems
There are also dog training methods designed to eliminate dog behavior problems, such as excessive barking, food aggression, jumping up on people, growling, and digging problems.
General Rules and Policies for Effective Training
No matter what type of dog training you want to do, it is important to know the general rules and policies for dog training. Knowing these rules does not just entail effective training but also make the process a whole lot easier.
In every dog training method that you do, it is crucial that you make them feel you are the leader in your dog-man relationship. It is also important that you make them understand what is acceptable behaviors and what is not.
Training your dog to become a good and well-behaved citizen may not be easy, but all your time, efforts and patience will certainly pay off. Remember that there’s nothing better than a dog that knows not just how to protect their owners but also follows orders and commands and knows how to behave in different places and situations.
